£3 Chicken Shawarma on naan - pretty decent

We don't come often but we quite like Munchies - there's no messing about and the bread is great. The chicken doner was a bit lifeless today - but that's always a gamble. The tikka was decent but there's just something about this place that's very likable - maybe it's the no-nonsense staff or the lack of stupid options - who knows? But it's pretty good.

Munchies is one of those mixed halal places that do a bit of everything, although unlike almost all of the others there are no curries available. The usual selection of kebabs was on offer - lamb and chicken tikka, chicken shawarma, lamb doner and seekhs. The bread was good - large and puffy with the pleasant char of the tandoor on its underside. Salad and sauces were fine - fresh and finely sliced - although the tomato was pretty anaemic.  The place was fairly busy on a Monday lunchtime, and the staff seemed to be on the ball. There's nowhere else nearby really - Abduls on Oxford Rd is probably the nearest place. Given the choice we'd opt for here. No complaints and no surprises.
