Crown Inn (Stockport)

The Crown is an exceptional pub. Its focus is on real ales, and it has 16 handpumps which serve a very good range of different beers - mostly from microbreweries from across the North of England. This is truly a drinkers pub. The beers are well kept, and there is usually a plethora of different styles and breweries on offer. The Jaipur IPA from Thornbridge was excellent on this visit.

The pub also looks great. It is positioned right beneath the mighty Stockport viaduct - next to one of the pillars. The wooden floors, dark interior, real fire and subtle lighting create a welcoming atmosphere. The place has four separate rooms that mean there are lots of interesting little nooks to hide in.

Finally, the service from the knowledgeable bar staff is excellent, and the regulars are very friendly.
